Capturing Fun Candid Family Moments

As a mother with a young child, I can appreciate the individuality of my toddler. She does things and says things in her own special little way. She likes to make up little songs to which me and her father have no idea as to what the words are -- I am pretty sure most of it is toddler gibberish. She also makes silly faces when I try to take photos of her, or she does little silly dances during the day. It's those things that I love seeing her do because it is a part of her personality.
It's also these things that make candid family portraits that much more special. When we are out in the Wasatch mountains at the beginning of winter and of course she starts singing "Let It Go". She's in her own little world and most importantly she is happy. And boy you should see the look on her face when it started to snow that day! She really thought she was Elsa! That is something I wish I had a photo of because the look on her face was of pure enjoy and wonder but most importantly it was authentic. This is what makes those candid images you see so touching -- it's the authentic moment captured at that exact time and place.
I encourage you to explore a little during your family sessions, sing songs, play games, and honestly the most important part is just spending that time connecting with your family in a very real way outside of everyday distractions. No phones, Tv's, video games, ect.
